February 2013 from the Landon Wimmer Family

The month of L.O.V.E.  We started the month off with a new tradition, 14 Acts of Love.  Every morning Sailor would pick a heart out of the jar.  On the back was written a challenge for her to do to share love with others around her.  There was also a special surprise for her in the mailbox each morning.  She had so much fun doing small acts of service for others.  I was really proud of her!  I learned how capable she is of helping me and was surprised by not only her willingness but excitement to take on these small challenges.
Landon and are are so crazy about these two!  They love each other so much.  Sailor is always asking to hold Riggs and when she hears him wake up from a nap she races to be the first one to poke her head up over the crib to see him.  He is constantly stretching his neck around to find the source of her voice.  Nobody can make him giggle like Sailor.  I am constantly finding him with a new toy in his lap that sister has deposited to make him happy.  They are quite a special pair.
One of the highlights this month was buying a new grill!  This has been a LONG time coming!  We have been talking about this moment for at least 5 years.  We promised each other that the first thing we'd do when we were done with summer sales is buy a grill!  We are LOVING it and cooking on it almost every night.  Every time Landon comes in after checking the meat he is just beaming and says, "This is so much fun!"
Landon went and did a little presentation at Sailor's school for Career Day!  Sailor thought it was pretty special.  He brought each of the kids a solar powered dancing flower.  He's such a great daddy!
We made a trip to the zoo this month with some of our new friends!  Surprisingly, the Fresno Zoo is quite awesome and definitely out does many of the other zoo's we've been to across the states.
Sailor's favorite part was petting the mana rays!  There was a giant one with like a 3 foot wing spread.  It swam right up to Sailor and lifted his wing to wave.  She touched it and then looked up at me more excited than I've ever seen her before and yelled, "THAT WAS AWESOME!"
She had seen a picture on my computer of a girl with hair shaped like a heart.  Ever since then she's been begging me to do it so we saved it for valentines day.  She was so excited!  Look at this great posing!
Sailor's Valentine celebration at school was so much fun!  They did some performances for all the parents, ate heart shaped food for lunch, and decorated cookies.
For Valentines Day we had a special breakfast!  Ben, Taisha, and Kambree were in town for a visit which made it extra fun!  We spent the rest of the day visiting Yosemite National Park.
Later in the month Sailor celebrated her (fake) birthday at school.  They set a day for all the summer birthdays to celebrate too which I think is super awesome!  Sailor wanted to bring pink and purple cupcakes for her treat (surprise)!
Sailor LOVES her teachers!  This is her with Miss Kathy and Mrs. Ruth!
Best story for the month.  One night Landon and I went into Sailor's room to do our routine check on her.  It was pitch black in her room so as our eyes adjusted we realized she wasn't in her bed.  We started looking around in the dark and all of a sudden we found her.  She had put all her pillows and blankets in her laundry bin and climbed in.  We were cracking up!  I'm so mad she started waking up when we took the picture!

On Valentines Day we took a little day trip up to Yosemite National Park.  I have never been there and it definitely didn't disappoint!  We started at the Mariposa Sequoia Grove.  The trees were huge!
It was a beautiful clear day so our view of half dome was just breath taking.  I love the mountains and out doors so much.  The Earth has so much variety and there are so many different kinds of beauty.  But there is just something about the mountains and the evergreen trees that just makes my heart happy.
We got out and did a little hike up to the base of the waterfall.  The kids loved the whole thing.  We would have loved to have had time to hike some more but we got this one in just as the sun was setting.  We are looking forward to some future family camping in this beautiful place.
One last bit of news....
After realizing that people weren't just jumping on a plane and heading to Fresno for a visit: we decided that it couldn't be us, it must be the location.  So, we decided to shake things up a bit and improve the destination!
Just when you all thought we were settling down...
We've decided to move.
Anybody up for a visit down under?
